BYU Acoustics Research Group

Acoustics Outreach

We currently offer two forms of science outreach to the community: our popular evening acoustics demonstration shows and special educational tours for K-12 classes and other groups to our anechoic and reverberation chambers.  Information about these two opportunities is listed below.  Please contact us if you have any questions.

Acoustics Demonstration Shows

Students from the acoustics group put on demonstration shows for the public.  The shows are usually held on Mondays or Fridays and are free of charge.

Click here to view the schedule for upcoming shows and to reserve seats.

Please demonstrate courtesy to our volunteer presenters by arriving at the show 5-10 minutes early.   Campus maps, including parking, are available here.   Our new show is:

SOUNDS TO ASTOUND

Bring your family and join us as we explore waves, resonance, and decibels! Come hear sound in space, see flames dance, and experience an exploding balloon. Stick around afterward for a tour of BYU's anechoic chamber.

Next shows: Nov. 26 and Nov 30
Educational Tours

Tours of our unique anechoic and reverberation facilities can be conducted for school classes or other groups.
