Consider the case of a ball thrown upward at an angle of 60° with respect to the ground with an initial velocity that is the same as the velocity of the water as it leaves the pipe. The water (ignoring air resistance) will follow the same trajectory.
Break the velocity into horizontal and vertical components. You can find the time it takes to reach the maximum height by using the relation vy = vy0 + at. The distance it travels is given by y = y0 +vy0t +at2/2.
