Here are some suggested topics for term papers.  These are here to give you ideas, and you don't have to choose one of these topics.  I have broken them into two categories: history of physics and current physics topics.

History of Physics Topics

bulletthe Michelson-Morley experiment
bulletearly tests of relativity
bulletMillikan's oil-drop experiment
bulletthe discovery of the electron
bulletRutherford's nuclear scattering experiments
bulletthe discovery of the neutron
bulletearly attempts to understand the photoelectric effect
bulletearly attempts to overcome "ultraviolet catastrophe"
bulletRoentgen's early work with x-rays
bulletSommerfeld's relativistic extensions to Bohr theory
bulletthe first maser or laser
bulletLondon's connection between superfluidity and Bose condensation
bulletthe discovery of the transistor
bulletthe discovery of fission

Current Physics Topics

bulletgravity waves
bulletneutrino mass and neutrino oscillations
bulletatom lasers
bulletatom interferometry
bulletdark matter
bulletBose-Einstein Condensation
bulletFermi degeneracy
bulletworld's most accurate clock
bulletevidence for antimatter cloud just outside Milky Way
bulletphysics size limits to electronic circuit elements
bulletprospects for commercial fusion reactors
bulletx-ray lasers
bulletproton lifetime
bulletquantum computing
bulletsuperconductivity
bullet"Schrodinger cat" experiments

You may also find a topic that interests you by looking at recent copies of Physics Today and Physical Review Letters

Make sure that this paper is focused on physics.  Applications of physics to technology can be interesting elements to the paper, but not the focus.
