What is a glorified body?

Mormons teach that God has a physical body. But what does that mean?

Keep in mind that while Mormon doctrine teaches that God does have a physical body, it is *not* a body like ours. Rather, it is a perfected, glorified body. It cannot function via ordinary physical processes like our bodies do (for example, I think it is obvious that God is immune from the effects of entropy...). So the question is, what does a "glorified" body look like, or what does that concept imply.

It is my opinion, that a "glorified" body refers to one that has transcended our ordinary space, and to which the laws of physics do not apply. It does bear some resemblance to a 3-dimensional body, which is why when God appears to man as in Joseph Smith's "First Vision", (through a process we don't understand), a man-like body is seen.

Of course, there is also the verse in the Doctrine and Covenants, section 130: "The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's..." which would imply that God's glorified body feels like man as well. As to whether the "flesh and bones" means the same sort of flesh and the same sort of bones as humans, I don't know, but I sort of doubt it.

I guess I would also say that God's body resides in "heaven", which is probably not part of our physical universe. I think most other Christians would agree with that statement-- you cannot point your telescope in the sky and see where heaven is.
