Aren't we just anthropomorphizing when we call God our "Father"?
Actually, I feel like that would be putting the cart before the horse. After all, Genesis says God created man in *His* image, not the other way around. I think our life on the earth, as parents and so forth, mirrors our knowledge of God because (a) God created us in His image, and (b) God reveals Himself to us in ways that we can understand (this is where the anthropomorphizing comes in, but I think it is Gods doing, not ours).
In other words, we may think of God as a "super human", not just because we are applying our own perceptions and familiarities to Him, but also because He created us to be in His image.
From the Mormon point of view, in which men can become gods, one might say rather than perceiving God as a "superhuman", it is more correct to view mankind as "potential Gods".
