Welcome to PHSCS 571!
In this class we will learn about how lasers work, how to design them, and how to use them in laboratory applications. Along the way we'll review some atomic physics, numerical techniques, and mathematical methods. The word LASER means Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. But for most laser jocks it means "Gain," "Power," "Amplification," "Damage," and unfortunately "Pain." The class will be challenging and interesting. So enjoy the semester and think Big Laser Thoughts!
