Physics and Astronomy Alumni Homecoming Reunion:
Friday, October 11, 2013
Spend an evening renewing acquaintances, refreshing memories, and meeting new friends.
We invite all BYU Physics and Astronomy alumni and their spouse to join us for a special Physics and Astronomy homecoming reunion on Friday October 11, 2013. Mark you calendars now and contact the department by Thursday, September 26 to let us know which events you will be attending.
The schedule of events is below. All events except BYU's Homecoming Spectacular are free of charge and open to all of our alumni and their spouses as well as our current graduate students and senior-level undergraduates and their spouses, but you need to RSVP so that we know how many people to prepare for.
- Buffet Dinner and Reception: 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Eyring Science Center's
Enjoy a buffet dinner while you chat with old friends and get to know the current faculty and students. This dinner is free of charge and open to all, but we would appreciate knowing if you are coming so that we can make a better guess as to how much food we will need. If you like, you make take a look at some pictures from the reception we held in 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, or 2003.
- Planetarium Shows: 4:45 and 5:30 p.m. in the Eyring Science Center
The department's astronomical society will put on two special half-hour planetarium shows for Physics and Astronomy alumni and family/friends. Our planetarium is top notch with full-dome digital projectors. This show is free of charge, but we would like you to let us know if you plan to attend so that we have an idea of what size of group to expect.
- Physics Demonstration Shows: 4:15 and 5:45 p.m. in the Eyring Science Center
Clark Snelgrove will present two 45 minute physics demo shows. Come and see exciting and intriguing demonstrations of physics principles. The shows free of charge, but we would like you to let us know if you plan to attend so that we have an idea of what size of group to expect.
- Homecoming Spectacular: 7:30 p.m. in the Marriott Center
This event has been very entertaining in the past, and we expect another good show this year. More information about this year's performance can be found at the BYU Homecoming Web Page. The department will purchase block tickets for the Homecoming Spectacular. The seats are $25.00 per person (discounted to $23.00 for Physics and Astronomy alumni and their spouses). If you wish to attend with us, please contact us by September 23th to guarantee your reservation.
You may choose to participate in any or all of the successive events. We do hope that you can join us for a good time together. Spread the word and encourage fellow alumni to take advantage of this opportunity.
Contact the Department of Physics and Astronomy at (801) 422-4361 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to make reservations or if you have questions.
If you can't make it to homecoming this year, you can send a postcard to the address below. We'll post these on a board so that your fellow classmates can read where you are and what you are up to. See you in October!
