Physics and Astronomy Alumni Homecoming Reunion:

Spend an evening renewing acquaintances, refreshing memories, and meeting new friends.

We invite all BYU Physics and Astronomy alumni to join us for a special Physics and Astronomy homecoming reunion on Friday October 8, 2010. Mark you calendars now and contact the department by Monday September 24 to let us know which events you will be attending.

The schedule of events is below.  All events except BYU's Homecoming Spectacular are free of charge and open to all of our alumni and their spouses as well as our current graduate students and senior-level undergraduates.

• Buffet Dinner and Reception: 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Eyring Science Center's Pendulum Court

  Enjoy a buffet dinner while you chat with old friends and get to know the current faculty and students.  This dinner is free of charge and open to all, but we would appreciate knowing if you are coming so that we can make a better guess as to how much food we will need.  If you like, you make take a look at some pictures from the reception we held in  2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, or 2003.
   

• Planetarium Shows: 4:30 and 6:00 p.m. in the Eyring Science Center Planetarium

  The department's astronomical society will put on two special half-hour planetarium shows for Physics and Astronomy alumni and family/friends.  Our new planetarium is top notch, and was just upgraded with full-dome digital projectors. Our student presenters are really sharp, so expect a great show.  This show is free of charge, but we would like you to let us know if you plan to attend so that we have an idea of what size of group to expect. 
   

• Physics Demonstration Show: 4:30 p.m. in the Eyring Science Center 

  Wayne, Peterson, our in-house physics demo expert, puts on a fantastic show.  His entertaining and informative demonstrations have won national prizes, and his shows captivate everyone from old to young.  Prepare to be astonished!  This hour-long show is free of charge, but we would like you to let us know if you plan to attend so that we have an idea of what size of group to expect. 
   

• Homecoming Spectacular: 7:30 p.m. in the Marriott Center

  This event has been very entertaining in the past, and we expect another good show this year.  Past performers have include Men's Chorus, Women's Chorus, Living Legends, Vocal Point, the Young Ambassadors, the Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dancers' Company, Synthesis, and the Nauvoo Brass Band. The department will purchase block tickets for the Homecoming Spectacular.  The seats are $20.00 per person (discounted to $18.00 for Physics and Astronomy alumni and their spouses). If you wish to attend with us, please contact us by September 24th to guarantee your reservation.

You may choose to participate in any or all of the successive events. We do hope that you can join us for a good time together.  Spread the word and encourage fellow alumni to take advantage of this opportunity.
