If you can't come to a scheduled test date, you can take it at the testing center:
1. Call 422-6147 to make an appointment at the testing center for the Physics Major Field Test. (If there is confusion, have the staff contact Linda Shirley). Make sure you leave yourself 2 hrs for the exam, and about 20 min to set up the computer, type in your personal info and review how to take the exam.
2. Avoid the week before finals and finals week, as the testing center proctoring openings are very few then.
3. Email bret_hess@byu.edu, supplying your major (Physics, Applied, or Astro), to get an authorization code.
4. At the testing center pay the $10 fee. They can use a credit card or charge it to your student account.
5. Print the following instructions and take them with you to the exam:Student Instructions
Please: turn off cell phones
Warning: do not press alt, ctrl or windows key…it will break from the exam and proctor will have to sign in to reauthorize it.
Please work the full two hours and do your best.
1. Type in your personal authorization code above
2. Enter your personal data
3. You may take the short tutorial on how to answer, mark and review questions to understand test interface
4. When you enter the test, your personal timer starts
5. You are allowed one hr for the 1st half, which will then close. You can take a short break if you wish. When you are ready a one hr timer for the 2nd half will start.
6. At the end, there are exit survey questions on how smoothly the test was administered. These are optional.
