Measuring the decay rate of ionized beryllium-7

We are assembling a non-neutral ion trap with the intention of using this trap to measure the modified rate of decay in ionized beryllium-7 [beryllium-7 decays only be electron capture so the rate will be modified by changing the electronic structure of the atom].

Skills and Experience Required

Some or all of the following will either be necessary before hand or you will need to learn them as part of getting up to speed:
LabVIEW programming
Matlab programming
Basic electronics (both analog and digital)
Basic vacuum technology (UHV and ion pumps)
Fundamental understanding of E&M
