Remote Desktop Access For Windows

The Windows Remote Desktop server for the Physics and Astronomy Department is: remote.physics.byu.edu.

Do not save any personal files on the remote server. Server maintenance may result in deletion of all personal information without warning or advance notice.

Remote Desktop Connection

Note: If you are using a version of Windows older than Windows XP, you will need to download and install the Remote Desktop Client from Microsoft and then follow the steps below.

1. In Windows XP, click Start —> All Programs —> Accessories —> Communications —> Remote Desktop Connection.
2. In Windows Vista and Windows 7, click Start then type Remote Desktop. Select the Remote Desktop Connection program from the list.

You will see a dialog box like the one below:

• Type the name of the remote server, remote.physics.byu.edu, in the Computer box.
• Click Connect.
• More options are available if you click the Options button. From there you can disable full-screen mode and modify other settings.
